Well what a few days.

Just back from working on the Joust in Pendennis. I was warm and sunny which was a relief packing a car full of wet canvas is never an enthralling prospect.

I managed to cook quite a delightful meal for the Red Team Dinner.

We had;

Lamb gobbets roasted over the fire and marinated in red wine.
Saracen Stew - Beef Stew with all spice, cloves and almonds.
Black Poree - Braised Cabbage with bacon.
A Salad.
Gingerbread - not the modern type but bread crumbs mixed with honey ginger, cinnamon and white pepper.
Fritters - The yeast worked this time so they where sort of like donuts. Basically Cream, Eggs, flour cooked in lard and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.
A raspberry fool. (Raspberries mashed up with cream and sack - sweet sherry.)

All eaten alfresco over looking the view from Pendennis castle. Fabulous and enjoyable for all. The new cook pot and fire tray worked a treat.

I also got to ride my knight's horse, Oliver, a number of times to warm him up. :-) He is a large grey (16 hands or so) and it is a long way up into the sadle when you can't adjust the stirrups! Still load of fun.

The Joust was good on Tuesday but Wednesday was marred by Sir James Swimbourne taking a lance in the groin which forced him from the field and put the rest of the knights off their game really. Even if Sir James is a nasty person we wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is fit for the final round at Kelmarsh hall during the festival of History.
