Pleasant weekend
Oct. 3rd, 2005 09:16 amThis last weekend was a real change for me. I did virtually nothing. Saturday I dropped Fiona in Swindon to go to Birmingham for the day, I picked up some ply wood to make a shield, did some shopping. I then cut out the shield, made some must cakes and watched some rugby on the box. Then went out to pick Fiona up from the Swindon.
Sunday we picked up Caroline from Farringdon so she could come and start to work on her Saxon kit. We helped her start to make an undertunic, braies and hose. She got one leg mostly finished, the undertunic started and I ran her up some braies so she could reserve some modesy whilst I fitted her hose. ;-) I also manage to edge my new kite shield and fix the edging on my round shield. Just have to strap and paint my kite and add a boss. Should be set for Hastings...
I also test cooked the pork dish for the Birthday Celebrations, it was really nice, Pork shoulder that is par boiled with barley, figs and honey then finished off in the oven to crisp up. Served with the barley and figs plus a sauce made of red wine, sherry and cooking liquor. Mmmmmm
Also made a patina of pears that was as equally yummy as the apple dish.
I think the Roman banquet is going to be rather nice.
Still not sure why I feel crappy today though, didn't do anything to deserve it.
