Yes I know its late but stuff has been happening that I will post about shortly.

Anyway where to start... Now we are four and the Magpies ROCK!!!! Yep there are now four members of the Magpies and we are starting to think about looking for a fifth member but we want to be careful to keep the amazing feeling the band has. The others are a great bunch to spend time with.

In my opinion for our second gig we played amazingly well and Caroline's 6 days of learning the bass led to an amazingly brilliant performance on the numbers she did. She has taken to it like a duck to water. Well done Caroline all that Bass player scrutinizing has paid off.

Music wise we did a lot of the old standards including the amusing stuff that was requested by our newest member including Dangerous Animals, Requiem and Volvo Man. We have also added some new stuff including Pink Floyd with Caroline playing brilliant bass and me attempting a solo but I really must get my rig worked out to do it properly. We also added a Crosby, Stills and Nash number which we totally nailed even if most of the bar weren't listening.

After we played we settled down in the bar for a band drink (well we had to get our free drinks in somewhere) and I had my second red wine which was supposed to be my last. However, when that was finished Paul managed to convince me to crash on their floor. We then stayed up until 2am talking.

MAGPIES you rule as we would have said when I was a kid and who cares about the dag-o-meter!

Last night we celebrated my birthday in style. I went to The Woodman Inn in Fernham near Faringdon with Paul and Caroline whose birthday is also next week, as well as Margie and Fiona.

The menu was amazing. I started with Chicken Liver Pate and had a main of Venison. Paul and Caroline did the Venison as well but Paul started with the soup and Caroline started with a Salmon Salady thing which looked really nice. Margie started with a duck breast salad and half a lamb!!! Fiona had Pea and Asparagus risotto and Cod and chips.

Wow it tasted amazing but the portions where huge. Margie's braised lamb took most of the evening to eat!!! It was all brilliantly balance and the place itself was very comfortable even if the amount of sharp agricultural implements on the wall was worrying!

I finished with a wonderful ginger and honey ice cream and Fiona had a mango sorbet. They also did nice coffee.

I definitely recommend this place to serious foodies but make sure to don't want to eat for the rest of the week!!!

Happy Birthday to me and to Caroline for next Sunday.
