Kingdom University
Nov. 17th, 2009 05:03 pmWell this last weekend saw me in Northern Germany for Kingdom University. I got there by driving from my place to Margaret's with the help of
bend_gules and her sweety Dan. Then by Margaret driving me from her's to the site. A long trip but worthwile because it meant that I could bring my cooking gear.
My tale of this year's University is that I spent most of the Saturday out in a field cooking over an open fire running a workshop where people could see my equipment and discuss issues aboutwho how* to cook over the fire.
I cooked a simple lentle pottage and started roasting some beef on my spit. Sadly it wasn't a very large peice of beef so it wouldn't stay on the spit and because I was running out of firewood the beef had to be finished in the kitchen.
Still a good turn out and I think the class had the desired effect.
Good things also happened at court with Dan aka Robert of Canterbury being made a Member of the Order of the Pelican a richly deserved award indeed. This was followed by a very decent feast indeed.
Since then I have been having a relaxing time not doing very much other than cooking and pottering around Eindhoven including today's little find. I bought a 1:72 scale model of a Lancaster Bomber. Something I always wanted to build but never quite got to it as kid so now I can do it as a adult lets see how much of a mess I make of it.
Dinner last night was of note. I made a dinner of beef fillet wrapped in proscuito and slow cooked in red wine. It was very very tasty indeed. Tonight I am trying tomato and caper pasta followed by a chocholate and pear tart.
*Yes Peril that was just a typo....
