Well in case anyone was worried I am safely back in Blighty after the trip to the Continent. I have been back since Monday but its been all go since then.
The weekend saw me and Margaret at a lovely relaxed event in Polderslot then Sunday afternoon back at Margaret's with
bend_gules and Dan.
Monday we decided to drive to the French Speaking part of Belgium and visit the town on Tournai. Sadly the weather closed in and the traffic was a nightmare but we got there in time for a nice Lunch. I had an excellent starter of Artichokes in a Rochefort Cheese sauce and a Beef Carbonade that was just amazing.
Then a quick trip around the Cathedral. After a freak tornado in 1999 the Cathedral has been progressively being renovated and although not much of it was finished it was very interesting to see what they where doing.
The treasury was also very interesting with many reliquaries and a chastable and slippers that they claim belonged to Thomas A'Becket. Don't believe it myself but there you go.
From there it was off to Dunkirk to catch the ferry, of course we made a stop on the way at a Supermarket. I scored some excellent wine and some Dry Sausage.
The high winds in the channel delayed us and so it was a late one but now I am home and have a visit from
ceinwyn77 so fun fun fun!
