An excellent weekend.

edith_hedingham is slowly transitioning into my life. In case anyone doesn't know we got Engaged at Raglan and will be marrying sometime next year.
Yesterday was an important day. She met the first of my family, my dear Uncle and Aunt John and Fiona. Being fellow foodies and wine connoisseurs I have a lot in common with them and always enjoy visiting so it was a great pleasure to introduce Jenny to them and it went very well. We had a lovely meal including Montjac Deer and some beautiful poached pears.
They wonderfully let us stay Saturday evening so that I could enjoy a drink.
After a lovely breakfast we went to Sandham Memorial Chapel which is a very powerful place.
Then we went on to Swindon to the outlet centre as Jenny needed a new coat and I needed some shirts for work. Both of us successful so all good.
Realizing that we had quite a few ours before Jenny needed to get her train back to London we decided to check out the Steam museum in the old Swindon railway works.
This is a wonderful place. Okay yes I am a real engineering geek and I got to look around engines and the works including engineering machines. I got to play with a single box simulator as well as looking at quite a lot of engines and rolling stock. Scoff you might but Jenny, who is not an engineering geek and I guess went rather to humour me, also enjoyed herself quite a lot rather surprisingly. Even if she did spend a rather appreciable amount of time smiling tolerant of me looking at all sorts of things.
Dad.... when you come over next year I think this is on the list of places to take you. :D
Tonight I am alone again but its okay I will be with Jenny soon and I made myself something rather yummy for dinner, a roast butternut pumpkin (squash) and rosemary risotto which I lightly drizzled with truffle oil and I am watching a documentary on the real Dambuster's raid.
