Bill's Excellent Adventure
So Bill The Horse and I had a big adventure yesterday. I would have posted about it yesterday but I was absolutely knackered. :D
So as avid readers will know Bill is a notoriously difficult loader and I have really struggled with loading him. I am really pleased to say that our transport for the day, Sophie Seymour, was as expected fabulous and the #thekissandcuddleslady lived up to her well deserved reputation and with Bill practically eating out of her hand and he basically went straight on. He had one little look but after a word he went straight in. He travelled well even in some of the traffic and was really well behaved when we encountered the pony and trap coming the other way on a narrow road.
After an uneventful unloading we head up to the course and started out work for the day. It took a bit of encouragement but I eventually got Bill happy out in the field and started to jump some things. Starting with banks, water and then a jump. He wasn't horrible but we didn't exactly set the course on fire. It wasn't that he couldn't jump stuff he just kept running out of impulsion and I guess I kept running out of puff too as it is hard work chivying a horse on but we got there, both coming off the field covered in sweat!
I was trying out some new stirrups and I realised they must be good at the end of the session because I hadn't worried about them at all. They are flexible ones (not the really expensive technical ones) but just ordinary Flexi-iron stirrups and my ankles seem much happier today so yeah.
Helen Sinar took some video and I have edited up a video of the day
So big thanks to Sophie and Helen, on wards and upwards.
