Carbon Offseting Buh?????

I am just watching Its Not Easy Being Green and they interviewed at carbon offsetting company who proudly stated they where providing energy efficient stoves to Kenya to stop them cooking over an open fire....


No I am sure this is laudable because by using less fuel the recipients spend less on fuel or spend less time collecting it but..... ummmm....

Last time I checked wood fires where actually not a global warming issue because you grow a tree then burn it that is carbon neutral, the problem occurs when you burn fossil fuels....

Am I wrong? Deluded? Confused or should this offsetting company be called to account?
